I have been admiring all of the lovely fall/Halloween mantel décor on Pinterest.
YET, instead of becoming inspired, I felt a pang of jealousy. For I do not have a mantel to decorate!
When in doubt, call your mum and decorate her mantel!. I miss living at home sometimes, purely for the creativity my parents’ chateau offers. Chateau Frankow is not only a family home filled with memories, it’s a home filled with character, to the brim!
So mum and I put our heads together, clinked glasses and got busy – starting with a clean slate. Unlike my American friends, decorating for Halloween is a bit taboo early on in October. Simply because here in the Great White North (Canada, eh), Thanksgiving comes first.
Fall décor for the win, here’s what Momma Barb and I came up with… and we had a hand from my brother’s girlfriend, Lindsey as well!
The before
The After!
This Candle Holder was a quick and easy project. Just add a piece of painters tape below the opening, add wood glue and sprinkle on some Martha Stewart Orange glitter!
Here’s a special treat – a present day photograph of the “Parlour” and a vintage photo of my Babcia (Grandma) holding my dad and my Uncle, with my Ciocias (Aunts) and their family friend.
Happy Thanksgiving!
