Oh hai! đź‘‹
I’ve been quiet for a while, sorry!
Not because I’ve had nothing to say, but because sometimes life (and the internet) throws storms your way. And when that happens, you need to step back, gather your thoughts, and figure out what’s actually worth your energy.
Here’s what I’ve realized during that time:
There’s a lot of noise online, and a lot of people who will try to capitalize on your research.
It’s deflating when you pour time and effort into your blog, only to have your stories read back to you (verbatim) on a historical walking tour. To set the record straight, I personally experienced having my research shared word-for-word, without credit. And when I questioned the guide, they told me, “History isn’t copyright.” I hope (and believe) this has since been rectified.
OR…
When someone online decides to fabricate a murder-level falsehood about your childhood home.
Yes, that’s a thing that happened to me.
But I’m not here to rage today. I’m just here to say: I’m still here, and I’ve got some stories to tell.
In the meantime, I’ve been redesigning my blog, researching, reflecting, and recharging… And soon, I’ll be sharing a post I’ve held off on publishing for a long time. Not because I was afraid, but because I wanted to make sure I told it right.
Because when someone tries to rewrite your story with lies, stolen photos, and made-up murders…
Well. Eventually, you set the record straight and send them a bouquet of 🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽 emojis.
Stay tuned. đź‘€
