DIY Christmas Wreath

DIY Christmas Wreath - Fresh Green Christmas Wreath | Alex Inspired

So I haven’t blogged in awhile…

I wasn’t nominated for “Best Blog” from the Walleye – which made me have a good giggle. Do you think it was because I bashed them for their lack of pierogi knowledge? ha ha ha.

Anyway, I decided to get my craft on for Christmas. I was truly inspired by Kate from Moss Cottage. She put on an amazing workshop last month: “Holiday Hosting How-To”. She showed us how make awesome floral arrangements, create custom art and making amazeballs wreaths.

The thing about Kate is, she can create something so nonchalant and come out with an awesome-sauce product. She showed us an easy and cool way to actually rip apart a grapevine wreath from Michael’s, and embellish it with holiday greenery. She also designed swags of bundled greenery hanging from pretty twine – perfectly understated and naturally beautiful.

SO, feeling INSPIRED, I ventured out to Moss Cottage on my birthday and bought two different kinds of boxwood and a bunch of other swoon worthy items.

Earlier on in the month, I asked my dad if he could gather some branches when he was out at camp. He brought home all kids of goodies including: cedar, red pine, spruce and balsam. YAY!

I got to work and ended up creating 4 wreaths, and one swag thingy.

My hands were sappy and gross, but it was awesome to create something from nature and the smell was amazing.

Pro Tip:
My brother is an MNR Firefighter and told me to use olive oil to remove the sap from my hands. Worked like a charm!

For the swag, I bundled all of my greenery together using floral wire.

Once I had about 10 bundles set aside, I began tying them to twine, and eyeballed spacing them out.

For the wreath, I did what Kate did! I grabbed my grapevine wreath and just went to town. Random branch here, sprig of cedar there… tear it apart, start again *sips wine*.

Mine does not look anything like Kate’s. She is the Queen!
I had a lot of fun being Christmas Crafty, and I can’t wait to make something else.
